Fourteen Inches to Peace By David Mutchler and Elizabeth Beau

Time and again we hear reports from readers and students of our programs that “This is ‘It.’ This is what I’ve been looking for all these years. This is what I’ve long sought but until now have not been able to find.”

“It” is the subject of this book. Here are a few examples of the responses we get when we ask, “What is ‘It’?”

• a thread that weaves through the truths of other spiritual traditions and ties them all together;

• a nonintellectual means for obtaining spiritual fulfillment without cluttering the head with more and more information;

• that evolutionary piece of Spirit work that takes a person beyond concepts and knowledge to actually achieving the changes he or she seeks;

• a methodology that “amps” up the spiritual process;

• a perspective that heals the pain ego causes and gives us access to the authentic self;

• an experience in which you need do nothing to gain the whole world;

• a clear and simple way to apply your existing spiritual knowledge;

• the spiritual fountain of youth; once you experience it, you return to the place you’ve always wanted to be;

• a personalized, simple way of finding your true self by getting rid of the pain that ego has caused in your life;

• life changing, an experiential framework for understanding the world, and a structure on which to build one’s life;

• a life-transforming experience; once you’ve been through it, it is impossible to return to a life driven by ego.

Dr. David Mutchler on Eckhart Tolle, How Does One Do It?

Biography
Dr. David Mutchler is a pioneer in the field of spiritual transformation. While his professional journey led him through careers in education, mental health, and business, he has remained widely read and deeply interested in matters of the Spirit. Over the years he began to notice that much of his own spirituality was limited to “head knowledge,” a collection of concepts and techniques, sayings and stories, ideas and musings. While he could cite and recite various authors on a variety of spiritual subjects, his own personal challenges in life made him realize that he was not experiencing the peace and joy as fully in his heart as he was able to conceptualize in his thoughts.

It was after having read Eckhart Tolle’s works, but particularly his book “A New Earth,” that David—out of great respect and gratitude for the spiritual wisdom it conveyed—began asking the questions, “But how does one do it? How does one make it happen? How can such profound wisdom come to life in one’s heart to the extent that it becomes the spiritual compass for peace, joy, and love in oneself and toward others every moment of every day?”

Subsequently, he embarked on an intense journey inward to discover the answers to these gnawing questions. The result of that journey is a pathway to peace from which David has written four books and developed a highly sought after experiential workshop called “Awaken to Ego, Discover Your Spirit,” more commonly known as Awaken to Ego or ATE.

Worth noting is that Awaken to Ego is not a new spiritual practice that is likely to become yet one more piece of information that lodges itself in one’s head. It is a new dimension of spirituality itself, a personal experience that becomes the catalyst for spiritual transformation, a methodology that unlocks the deeper reaches of your own spiritual practices, whatever they happen to be. It addresses the spiritual healing of everyone, from beginners to those who have been on spiritual journeys for ten, twenty, thirty years, or more. As one spiritually seasoned student put it, “Just as Pinocchio turned from a wooden puppet into a real live boy, Awaken to Ego brings my spirituality to life in ways that I never dreamed possible.”

David has earned degrees in education, philosophy, psychology, and social work, and conducted advanced studies in religion. An integrative thinker, he has brought his various studies and life experiences together in a unique perspective that has relevance to all who seek spiritual transformation. He is the author of four books, Beyond the Ego, Lessons for Living Beyond the Ego, Non-Judgment Day Is Coming: Are You Ready?, and with co-author Elizabeth Beau, Fourteen Inches to Peace.
