Why am I Not Enlightened Yet? ~ Rupert Spira

TOWARDS ABIDING IN NONDUAL BEING : An interpretive and limited account of the transformation of consciousness ~ Marcia Rich, Ph.D.

Marcia Rich, Ph.D.

Marcia Rich began passionately pursuing a formal shamanic path in her forties. Prior to that, she provided integrative psychotherapy as a transpersonal psychologist, engaging the consciousness of mind, body, emotion and spirit. She was searching for a more direct approach, which she found in shamanism.

Marcia began passionately pursuing a formal shamanic path in 2007 with her attendance at FSS workshops with Gizelle Rhyon-Berry, in Victoria, BC, Canada. A pivotal shamanic experience early on this path helped her to embrace the sacredness of her own “smallness and invisibility,” a teaching that she has returned to again and again. This teaching has fuelled her passion for shamanism as a spiritual path, particularly through the core shamanic approach originated by Michael Harner and taught via the FSS. Marcia says: “I am honored to have my relationship with the Foundation now extend to teaching in Alberta, Canada.

What is most inspiring for Marcia is supporting others in deep healing as they become increasingly independent and autonomous in their shamanic practice. This passion comes from her personal experience of intensive healing and transformation through practicing shamanism as a spiritual path.

Marcia received her Master’s and Ph.D. degrees at the University of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and has completed research in integrating spiritual and transpersonal realms into psychotherapy. She is interested in the intersection of shamanic practice and transpersonal psychotherapy. Since beginning her training with the Foundation for Shamanic Studies, she has maintained a shamanic practice, providing individual and group sessions for healing.

Recently, Marcia held the position of Assistant Professor at the University of Lethbridge in the Addictions Counseling Program, teaching courses in counselor training and mental health and addictions issues. She left academic life to devote more time to providing shamanic and psychotherapy services for others. She is currently on the Editorial Board of Reviewers of Pardoxica: Journal of Nondual Psychology.

Exploring the Crack in the Cosmic Egg: Split Minds and Meta-Realities By (author) Joseph Chilton Pearce

The classic follow-up to the bestselling The Crack in the Cosmic Egg

• Explains the process of acculturation and the mechanisms that create our self-limiting “cosmic egg” of consensus reality

• Reveals how our biological development innately creates a “crack” in our cosmic egg–leaving a way to return to the unencumbered consciousness of childhood

• Explores ways to discover and explore the “crack” to restore wholeness to our minds and reestablish our ability to create our own realities

In this classic follow-up to his bestselling The Crack in the Cosmic Egg, Joseph Chilton Pearce explains the process of acculturation and the mechanisms that create our self-limiting “cosmic egg” of consensus reality.

Laying the groundwork for his later classic Magical Child, Pearce shows that we go through early childhood connecting with the world through our senses. With the development of language and the process of acculturation not only do our direct experiences of the world become much less vivid but our innate states of non-ordinary consciousness become suppressed. Trapped in a specific cultural context–a “cosmic egg”–we are no longer able to have or even recognize mystical experiences not mediated by the limitations of our culture. Motivated primarily by a fear of death, our enculturation literally splits our minds and prevents us from living fully in the present.

Drawing from Carlos Castaneda’s writings about Don Juan and the sense of “body-knowing,” Pearce explores the varieties of non-ordinary consciousness that can help us return to the unencumbered consciousness of our infancy. He shows that just as we each create our own cosmic egg of reality through cultural conditioning, we also innately create a “crack” in that egg. Ultimately certain shifts in our biological development take place to offset acculturation, leaving an avenue of return to our primary state. Pearce examines the creation of the “egg” itself and ways to discover its inherent cracks to restore wholeness to our minds, release us from our fear of death, and reestablish our ability to create our own realities through imagination and biological transcendence.

Joseph Chilton Pearce is the author of several books, including The Crack in the Cosmic Egg, Magical Child, and The Biology of Transcendence. Since the early 1970s, he has been teaching at universities throughout the world about the changing needs of our children and the development of human society. He lives in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia.

Joseph Chilton Pearce – The Crack in the Cosmic Egg

Published on Apr 13, 2012

We interviewed Joseph Chilton Pearce at The Monroe Institute in Favor, Virginia as part of the 40 Days and 40 Nights Video Tour in October 2011. For nearly half a century, Joe has been probing the mysteries of the human mind. Author of The Crack in the Cosmic Egg, Exploring the Crack in the Cosmic Egg, Magical Child, Magical Child Matures, Bond of Power, and Evolution’s End, one of his overriding passions remains the study of what he calls the “unfolding” of intelligence in children.

He is a self-avowed iconoclast, unafraid to speak out against the myriad ways in which contemporary American culture fails to nurture the intellectual, emotional, and spiritual needs and yearnings of our young people. Part scholar, part scientist, part mystic, part itinerant teacher, Pearce keeps in close touch with the most brilliant men and women in each field. He creates a unique synthesis of their work and translates the results into a common language.

His most recent book, Death of Religion and the Rebirth of Spirit: A Return to the Intelligence of the Heart (2007), view here is critically important for where we are now. Our organized religions are stuck in centuries of a particular way of thinking that makes it very difficult to address the changes going on the world of thought today.

Over and over on this tour we met brilliant thinkers and scientists who are making the journey from the intellect to the heart along an un-chartered and unmapped path. In our interview, Joe shows us the importance of living from the heart, regardless of what the mind says.

Oneness By Ozay Oktay

At every stage of human history, there have been a few human beings lucky enough to stumble into the Universal Truth and live it—prophets, saints, Zen masters, Sufi masters, and a few of their disciples. They all kept it secret among themselves, for the rest of the people were not yet ready to hear about it.

Now it seems like there is a much wider spiritual awakening around the world. This is good news. However, this threatens the human ego that needs to keep individual selves separated from each other, from everything else, and from their One Source for its survival. So humanity, under the leadership of the ego, takes a more unconscious posture, evidenced by the rising fear of everything and everybody. Hence the wars, natural and manmade disasters, myriad illnesses and death to fear and protect from. All this generates shared human suffering, which serves as a catalyst to accelerate the awakening.

The coming of this book is no more than another evidence of the Universal Awakening. Every poem in this book, as well as every conversation point to one thing and one thing only: the ONENESS of everybody and everything, may they already be manifested in the universe or not.

The Word

The universe is an expanding ball;

An infinite sphere they say.

Can’t tell where the center is though.

Or it expands where.

If this ball is infinite

Does it make sense then to say

That the center is right here

And the ball expands nowhere?

The “uni-verse” means the “one-word”

Says the man himself.

Could it be then the ONE CENTER

Is expressing ITSELF?

Ozay was born in Turkey, where he lived until his graduation with a BS degree in electrical engineering. He then moved to the United States to study for a master’s degree in 1980. He has been living and working in Southern California since.

In his early twenties, Ozay met a true spiritual teacher, who introduced him to the Universal Truth of Oneness. As a manifestation of his intense spiritual deepening, a stream of about fifty poems emerged through him during the last two years. This presented an opportunity to reach out to as many people as possible.
Ozay is not aligned with any religion, nor does he adhere to any doctrine or dogma.
