http://adyashanti.org – Adyashanti explores the vast capabilities of the heart—how it has an infinite capacity to empower you and liberate you from the narrative of your mind. By letting your mind rest, your other capacities are allowed to come online, which allows heart-centered actions to take center stage. By retiring old stories that your mind has created about experiences, you are freed from the relentlessness and repetitiveness of your mind. By realizing the inherent limited nature of feelings and emotions, you are able to experience things as they truly are. Adyashanti offers up the option that there is an alternative to the interpretive network of the mind—and invites you to experience this for yourself.
Video excerpted From “Jumping Off the Cliff”
Quotes from this video:
“The most profound experiences of openheartedness are often when our mind is overwhelmed by beauty, or intimacy, or closeness. Then there is this extraordinary, heartful availability. Those moments are like glimmers beyond the veil that humans tend to live their lives behind—that there is actually something quite extraordinary right on the other side of this narrative.”
“Our mind is making up about 99% of all the experiences we have—emotional experiences, feeling experiences, and all the rest.”
“When you realize that what you’re actually experiencing is your mind—from one point of view it’s rather disappointing and from another point of view it’s extraordinarily empowering—because it means you have a lot more options than you ever imagined about how to experience anything.”
“The present moment is actually creating the experience of the past.”
Does an enlightened person still work on their values and habits?
Well, I worked on my sugar habit (vasana) for about 13 years after my moksha.
Vasanas don’t just disappear overnight. It takes a long time. Slowly by slowly I reduced the intake of sugar.
Once you assimilated the knowledge that I am the self then it doesn’t matter if you have a sugar vasana or tobacco vasana.
Dispassion is a direct consequence of self-knowledge. At the same time you can still work on it because your jiva might suffer from a sugar or tobacco vasana.
The spiritual work of cleaning up the Jiva’s vasanas
Being present is immensely worthwhile. It opens you into the truth of life. It opens you into peace, love, truth and Oneness. It releases you from the pain of the past and anxiety about the future. It empowers you to be yourself and express yourself fully. It enables you to come into right relationship with your ego and with your feelings. It enables you to transcend judgment, which is one of the keys to awakening.
To be present is your natural state. The only way you can leave the present moment is to think your way out of here. And where will you go? There is only one possibility. You think your way out of the present moment into the world of the mind. It is a world of past memory and future imagining.
The problem is that we are all addicted to thinking. The thoughts never stop and because thoughts are always about the past or future, we become absorbed into the past and future world of the mind. In this way, we disconnect from the present moment. This is what has happened to humanity. It is as if we are all lost in an unimaginably complex maze, an intricate network of thought, memory, imagination, concept, idea, opinion and belief.
When we caught within the mind, we are affected by all the limiting beliefs which formed in early childhood. We live with all the repressed emotions from the past. We live with anxiety about the future. We judge ourselves and others.
The only way to come out of the mind and return to Presence is to bring yourself present with something that is here in the moment with you. If you can see it, hear it, feel it, taste it, touch it, or smell it in this moment, then you can be present with it.
Look around the room. Be present with something you see right now. It could be a flower, or leaf, a chair, or anything else you see in the room. Or you could be present with the sound you hear. Everything that is in the present moment is inviting you to be present with it. You can be present in the movement of your body.
The moment you are truly present, thoughts stop and your mind falls silent. The past drops away, revealing the present moment as it is, free of your ideas, opinions, beliefs and projections. Now you are awake in the truth of life, and this will continue for as long as you remain present.
Each moment you have a choice. Do you choose to be present, or do you allow yourself to wander off into endless unconscious thought. This choice is at the very heart of free will, and your life will be radically affected depending on which choice you make. The more you choose to be present, the more Presence flowers within you.
The flowering of Presence from within is like the mustard seed that Jesus spoke of.
“The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, smaller than all other seeds.”
At first, Presence is delicate and it will be difficult to remain present. But each moment that you are present nurtures the seed of Presence. There are so many opportunities to be present each day. Whenever there is no need to be thinking, bring yourself present. Be present as you wash the dishes. Be present as you have a shower or go for a walk. It is that simple. Gradually the seed of Presence will flower within you and you will find yourself becoming more and more established in Presence.
If your commitment and longing for full awakening and freedom is the top priority in your life, if you have heard the ancient inner call to remember, then I invite you to join me in my awareness that you are truly the Divine Expression of All Love. I call you to enter the yes with me, and open to living within the Peace and Joy of All Love.
Most of humanity believes that the Divine Expression of All Love is so exalted that it is beyond their reach. The doorway of the Awakened Heart reveals that such magnificence is not exalted. Nor is it reserved for exalted beings. It is all there is, and as such is ordinary. The secret is within the ordinariness, where you embrace the simplicity of your magnificence that has always been the Divine Truth of All Love. I call you to join me in a world without struggle.

If you are reading this, then you are well on your way on a path of Awakening…
Although, everyone experiences their own unique and individual paths of awakening, there are many common elements we all share…
We all begin to see the World differently than we did before. As we start to seek for the truth, we see through the veils of illusion in our society, governments and mainstream institutions. The downfalls of consumerism and materialism become glaringly obvious and we realize we must take responsibility for the lives we live, the choice becomes clear.
Awakening often comes with profound spiritual implications, as we have undeniable experiences of connection to our Universal intelligence. Signs, symbols and synchronicities show up in our lives more and more, altering our course forever. In the process, there are some Universal changes we must make on the path for our own growth and evolution.
Here they are, written just for you;
The 10 Life Changes You Can’t Avoid on the Path of Awakening
1 ) Healing Your Relationship with your Parents & Family
It’s vital we revisit our youth and childhood, to do deep healing and clearing work. Many of us experienced great traumas in our youth, and these traumas need our loving attention so they don’t hold us back any longer in old patterns of being and interpreting the World.
Most importantly, we must create healthy relationships with our parents and family. We often like to say that everyone is doing the best they can with what they have, and no matter who your parents were/are, this applies. Be willing to initiate the tough conversations of healing this old stuff and apologize where self responsibility is needed.
How can you bring forgiveness to these past moments and the relationships forged during your upbringing? You created your experiences, so it’s up to you to take ownership for them. They were created for your personal growth spiritually and as a human being on the planet at this point in time and the more you resist them, the further you push and deny the personal empowerment available to you from the lessons of these experiences. Re-frame the past and you can create a limitless future.
2 ) Re-Locating or Travelling Outside where you Grew Up
It’s important that we burst the bubble of our limited experience of the World, and awakening almost always demands this of us.
Where you grew up was perhaps only a small microcosm of the World at large. There are infinite beautiful places and beautiful people in the World. Don’t let the small fish tank you live in sculpt the way you see and experience the boundless aquarium of life. Once you branch out, explore and give yourself permission to fresh exposure to the World, you’ll find you can ground-in and call home somewhere that is most relevant with your values and desires for your lifestyle and career at this point in your life.
3 ) Leaving Behind Unhealthy, Toxic & Stuck Relationships
One of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do was distance myself from my childhood and long term friends whom I really loved. It came down to one simple fact, I want to work everyday to improve myself and I need to ensure I have good people around me doing the same.
Scientifically speaking, you become the five people you spend the majority of your time with. It’s up to you to be very discerning, careful and calculated about who you allow those five people to be. If you have friends in your life who seem stuck, definitely help and support them, but if they are truly unwilling to grow, maybe it’s time to move on…
Having support is everything to achieve your goals, and you have the opportunity to create healthy relationships everyday. Remember you can stay in touch with people you care about, but don’t force change on anyone, let it come to them. In meantime, do what you need to do to care for yourself.
4 ) Constantly Improving Your Diet & Exercise Routine
Many people think diet changes are a one time thing and find what works for them, at that time and follow that regimen forever. In actuality, our diets are designed to evolve, and have been doing so since the beginning of time..
Be open to exploring various healthful diets that truly work for you, and be open to new things, as technology is exponentially enhancing the world of nutrition. The same is true for exercise! Amongst YouTube, Instagram & Social Media, we are evolving our world of nutritional and fitness education at light speeds faster than ever before.
Constantly improving yourself is one of the most common principles of Awakening and diet and exercise are at the top of this list.
5 ) Let Go of Clutter, Chaos & Old Stuff
Clutter and chaos is not rebellious and it’s not sexy. It’s sloppy and a sign of lack of true self-care and awareness. I know it takes a lot to maintain our rapid modern lives, but the tighter, cleaner and more organized you keep things, the better results you’ll have with your ambitions, I promise.
Old stuff needs to go! Physical objects with high emotional attachment can hold a lot of our emotional energy. I am reminded of when I told my friend to throw out his old-shoes he had been hanging on to, because he didn’t know where the money would come from to get a new pair and guess what? He manifested a high paying gig and a new home within a week after releasing those beat up shoes! He knew intuitively the shoes definitely had something to do with it. And I’ve seen numerous similar experiences with myself and my clients. Our stuff can be a physical representation of clinging to the past, and letting go of old things means we open up for new opportunities, clarity, gifts and miracles from the Universe.
6 ) Become a Constant Learner & Student of Life
As an awakened individual, it’s likely you have a passion for finding your Truth and understanding the deeper nature of life. Learning is an evolutionary process, which means we must become more of who we are in each moment by learning new information, tools and approaches towards life.
All suffering comes from resistance to change.
A willingness to learn is a willingness to grow. I find it helpful to keep a list of things I am actively learning, and create a strategy for how I am going to learn those things (keeping a simple notepad and pen handy is great). I like to schedule my learning time into my day, and then track my progress. Online courses are great for this kind of thing, and there is so much more out there you can learn from.
7 ) Finding Conscious Community to Surround Yourself With
The biggest thing people have told me throughout the years of being involved in this community, is that there are not enough spiritual people around them locally, and it’s hard for them to stay on track with their growth because they don’t feel supported.
I believe it’s vital that we all come together at this time to find other people who share our same interests, pursuits and values. The easiest way to grow is to grow with others who are on the same path as you, and in order to find this, you need to find your community and develop your own path.
Get out in the World and reach out! You’ll be amazed at how many people there are like you around you. And if that’s truly not the case, there are endless amounts of awakened people in the World, I’ve experienced them everywhere in the world, both in person and online. (p.s. We are building an online community for you to all connect! http://creatorcourse.com/ssmcommunity/)
8 ) Creating a New Relationship with Yourself & Your Lifestyle
No more self sabotage or self depreciation! As an awakened individual you have to be truly loving and kind to yourself.
This means reducing your negative thoughts and emotions towards yourself and others. It also means, no more beating yourself or others up for the circumstances you are in, and then you can take responsibility for your relationship with yourself and your lifestyle.
You can design your internal and external reality however you wish, you just need to give yourself permission and the confidence to do so! It takes time and patience. You got this!
9 ) Choosing a Career in Alignment with Your Heart’s Calling
You can’t work some kind of soul-sucking job, even if it does pay good. Settling with a career that doesn’t truly fulfill you isn’t worth it. Why wake up one day with regret when you could wake up with a legacy?
Following your heart’s calling in your career can be extremely challenging, because it means you will have to do lots of illogical things that people around you may not understand. However, if you are making truly heartfelt decisions, it will always lead you in the right direction.
Listen to what your true calling is, and if you don’t know it yet, start trying things out until you find it. Everyone’s calling is evolving constantly and it’s not about finding it, it’s about YOU getting into the rhythm of what you are supposed to be doing right now. It’s resonating in your heart and soul, always speaking to you, undeniably, take heed.
A positive career means you are working and doing your part to make a difference, and if we all do that, the World will continually change for the better.
10 ) Live from Your Heart
Open your heart and live from it each day. Love is always the answer. You Got This!

http://adyashanti.org – Adyashanti invites you to look underneath the everyday layers of life and deeply intuit what abides there. What is the foundational place that you can always visit—that is inherently ever-present? What lives beneath the surface of every moment? He invites you to discover who exists before anything is happening. There is this intrinsic, unmoving peace and well-being present and ever-available in every moment. Adyashanti offers up the following questions: What’s the foundation of all of your experience? Who have you been all your life without noticing?
Video excerpted From “Revealing the Unknown Self”
Quotes from this video:
“Energy is a name for a dynamic nothing.”
“Who have you been all your life without noticing? Perhaps it has been the one thing you can’t think about or name, but it’s there for all of us.”
“Just by acknowledging that in all the world of the known—the known self, the known world, the seen world, the heard world, the remembered ideas, the beliefs, the emotions, the feelings, that creative dynamic bubbling up of life every second—it’s all arising as your own experience in this moment.”

A conversation about tensions in the body as a result of not accepting emotions.
Finding awareness in any kind of ordinary daily activity–the first book from a Southeast Asian Buddhist monk-teacher who is becoming prominent worldwide, particularly in the Insight Meditation community.
The flame of wisdom can be kindled in the midst of any life, even one that might seem too full of personal and professional commitments to allow for it. Such is the teaching of Sayadaw U Tejaniya, who himself learned to cultivate awareness in the raucous years he spent in the Burmese textile business before taking his final monastic ordination at the age of thirty-six. Train yourself to be aware of the clinging and aversion that arise in any situation, he teaches. If you can learn to do that, calm and deep insight will naturally follow. It’s a method that works as well for sorting the laundry or doing data entry as it does in formal sitting meditation. “The object of attention is not really important,” he teaches, “the observing mind that is working in the background to be aware is of real importance. If the observing is done with the right attitude, any object is the right object.”
SAYADAW U TEJANIYA is a Burmese monk in the lineage of Mahasi Sayadaw who teaches meditation at Shwe Oo Min Dhamma Sukha Forest Meditation Center in Yangon (Rangoon), Myanmar. He’s unique among the more high-profile monastic teachers of his tradition in that, though he began practice under his teacher at age thirteen, he didn’t enter monastic life till he was nearly forty–after an active career in his family’s textile business. His teaching emphasizes the application of awareness to every aspect of life, de-emphasizing the centrality of practice forms–even as he teaches them rigorously–and his style is relaxed, funny, and informed by his intimate knowledge of the workaday world. He has taught in Australia, China, Great Britain, the Czech Republic, Indonesia, Israel, New Zealand, Poland, Singapore, Switzerland, and the United States.
