For Nondual teachings, consciousness is everything and the nature of everything. For scientific theories, consciousness appears at some point in the physical world, and makes experience and science possible. Science has advanced various theories to understand consciousness and where it comes from. There is no consensus at this point. At the same time, most nondual teachings view the world that science studies as illusion, or illusion like. Scientists think our
perception of it is like an illusion because it is the way our brains interpret input, but they do not agree that the world is illusion, or that their successful theories are illusion. I will explore both points of view and how there might be an interface between the two that can create a bridge between the insights of mystical experience and the findings of our science.

Exploring the Nature and Dynamic of Experience, conversation with RUPERT SPIRA and A. H. ALMAAS [updated June 27, 2015]

Published on Nov 18, 2014
In this conversation A.H. Almaas and Rupert Spira explore the nature and dynamic of experience, and their two distinct approaches to that inquiry.

Hameed Ali (A. H. Almaas)
, Founder of the Diamond Approach, was born in the Middle East, but at age 18 he moved to the USA to study at the University of California in Berkeley. Hameed was working on his Ph.D. in physics, where he was studying Einsteirn’s theory of general relativity and nuclear physics, when he reached a turning point in his life and destiny that led him more and more into inquiring into the psychological and spiritual aspects of human nature. Hameed is the founder of the Diamond Approach® – a spiritual teaching that utilizes a unique kind of inquiry into realization, where the practice is the expression of realization. Freedom is living our realization, a dynamic enlightenment where our transcendent nondual truth lives personally in the world. This inquiry opens up the infinite creativity of our Being, transforming our lives into a runaway realization, moving from realization to further realization. From an early age Rupert was deeply interested in the nature of Reality. For twenty years he studied the teachings of Ouspensky, Krishnamurti, Rumi, Shankaracharya, Ramana Maharshi, Nisargadatta and Robert Adams, until he met his teacher, Francis Lucille, twelve years ago. Francis introduced Rupert to the teaching of Jean Klein, Parmenides, Wei Wu Wei and Atmananda Krishnamenon and, more importantly, directly indicated to him the true nature of experience.

Rupert’s first book is “The Transparency of Things”, subtitled “Contemplating the Nature of Experience”. His second book, Presence Volume I The Art of Peace and Happiness and Presence Volume II The Intimacy of All Experience has been currently released by Non-Duality Press.

Runaway Realization: Living a Life of Ceaseless Discovery by A. H. Almaas [updated Mar 29, 2015 ]

For the first time in print, well-known spiritual teacher A. H. Almaas presents the highest level and most profound teachings of the Diamond Approach on the true nature of reality and the path to enlightenment.

The teaching in this book is off the map—because reality itself cannot be captured in a map. In fact, reality is far more alive, far more mysterious than anything we can conceive of. It is always revealing itself by knowing itself; and knowing reality and living it becomes the fulfillment of our life. A. H. Almaas, the originator of the Diamond Approach, here presents a new paradigm for understanding reality: the view of totality. He reveals that our life can become an endless revelation of reality, an adventure with neither beginning nor end.

A. H. Almaas has been developing and teaching the Diamond Approach, a spiritual path of self-realization and maturity based on an original synthesis of modern discoveries in the field of psychology and a new paradigm about spiritual nature, for more than thirty years. If we can say the Diamond Approach has a goal it is to realize the truth at progressively deeper levels until one reaches the ultimate Truth, the Absolute, and to become integrated into that truth so that we are a living presence and embodiment of that truth. The teachings of this path have been unfolding over time, and Runaway Realization presents—for the first time in print—the highest level of teachings in the Diamond Approach in the most profound work by Almaas so far. In this book, Almaas offers a detailed look at the true nature of reality and the nature of enlightenment. He also talks about practice—what it is and what it isn’t, and how practice relates to the process of realization. He looks at what it is to be a human being and what our role is in the totality of the universe. The material includes a discussion of the nature of space and time, as well as a view of more and more subtle levels of realization.

A. H. ALMAAS is the pen name of Hameed Ali, the Kuwaiti-born originator of the Diamond Approach, who has been guiding individuals and groups in Colorado, California, and Europe since 1976. He is the author of many books, including The Power of Divine Eros and The Unfolding Now.

Hameed Ali (A. H. Almaas) – 2nd Buddha at the Gas Pump Interview

Published on Mar 17, 2015

A. Hameed Ali was born in Kuwait in 1944. At the age of eighteen, he moved to the USA to study at the University of California in Berkeley. Hameed was working on his Ph.D. in physics when he reached a turning point in his life and destiny that led him more and more into inquiring into the psychological and spiritual aspects of human nature.

Hameed’s interest in the truth of human nature and the true nature of reality resulted in the creation and unfoldment of the Diamond Approach®:

“The Diamond Approach is a path of wisdom, an approach to the investigation of Reality and work on oneself that leads to human maturity and liberation. Because of our particular vision of Reality it is not completely accurate to think of this approach as spiritual work, for this work does not separate the spiritual from the psychological, neither does it see these two as separate from the physical everyday life and scientific investigation of the content of perception. However, because we live in a society where the prevailing thought is that of the separated facets of Reality, the closest category recognized in this mentality, to our approach, is that of a spiritual path or exploration.”

Perception And Reality – Hameed Ali (A. H. Almaas)

Does perception in nondual or other kinds of spiritual realization reveal what reality actually is? Many teachings emphasize that enlightenment is seeing how things actually are. However, the vision of reality given by the various teachings vary in significant ways. Does this mean one of them is the right one or are all correct? What are the implications about reality in either case? I will present a vision of perception in spiritual realization that parallels the view in quantum theory of the relation between the observer and reality. Since in spiritual realization reality is more fundamental than the observer, actually manifesting the observer, the vision brings in the subtleties of realization and why there are many kinds. Reality becomes a much more mysterious truth than the view of any kind of realization, which requires encompassing the various views of enlightenment.

Living Realization a Conversation with Adyashanti and A.H. Almaas

Published on Nov 6, 2014

Many people have experienced some form of realization, such as dissolution of or dis-identification with body or ego and are beginning to recognize themselves as awareness. However, a fully embodied, lived, and expressed realization is another step altogether, and many seekers experience difficulties bridging this gap. What does it take for our understanding to fully penetrate body and mind and to be lived as a permanent reality wholly expressed in the world? How do our ideas of what it means to live life from one’s deepest realization get in the way of actually living it? Which difficulties do we encounter, which delusions and misunderstood ideas, and how do they limit realization itself? Are there useful descriptions of stages to realization, or do they actually hinder the spontaneous unfolding of presence?

Exploring the Nature of Consciousness and Perception – Conversation with Hameed Ali (A. H. Almaas) and Rupert Spira

Exploring the Nature of Consciousness and Perception – Conversation with Hameed Ali (A. H. Almaas) and Rupert Spira -moderated by Zaya Benazzo

A.H. Almaas is the pen name of A. Hameed Ali, the creator of the Diamond Approach to Self Realization. The Diamond Approach is a contemporary teaching that developed within the context of awareness of both ancient spiritual teachings and modern depth psychological theories. Almaas has authored several books about spiritual realization, including The Diamond Heart series, The Pearl Beyond Price, The Void, The Unfolding Now and The Point of Existence. His last book is The Power of Divine Eros: The Illuminating Force of Love in Everyday Life co-authored with Karen Johnson. He founded the Ridhwan School, an inner work school devoted to the realization of True Nature.

Rupert Spira from an early age was deeply interested in the nature of reality. At the age of seventeen he learnt to meditate, and began studying and practicing the teachings of the classical Advaita Vedanta tradition under the guidance of Dr. Francis Roles and Shantananda Saraswati, the Shankaracharya of the north of India, which he continued for the next for twenty years. During this time he immersed himself in the teachings of P.D.Ouspensky, Krishnamurti, Rumi, Ramana Maharshi, Nisargadatta and Robert Adams, until he met his teacher, Francis Lucille, in 1997. Francis introduced Rupert to the Direct Path teachings of Atmanada Krishnamenon, Jean Klein and the tantric tradition of Kashmir Shaivism, and, more importantly, directly indicated to him the true nature of experience. Rupert is the author of three books, The Transparency of Things; Presence, in two volumes, subtitled The Art of Peace and Happiness and The Intimacy of All Experience (2012); and the latest one is a collection of sayings — The Ashes of Love — are a profound exploration of the non-dual nature of experience.

Is Entanglement Fundamentally A Physical Or Spiritual Phenomena? – A. H. Almaas

Published on Nov 12, 2014

In Quantum theory, entanglement is like action at a distance but faster than the speed of light. Latest observations suggest that a spacetime wormhole connects two entangled particles, thus accounting for their instantaneous communication. Is such entanglement or non-locality a property limited to what is known as entangled particles, or it possibly true for all particles? Some theories suggest it is true for all particles.

What kind of spiritual perception or insight parallels, or may account for, such property of entanglement? Is nondual perception sufficient to account for entanglement? Or do we need to look at another characteristic of consciousness – the fundamental spiritual element – to find a realization that parallels the phenomena of entanglement, where there is no time or distance between objects or events? What is the experience of reality in such spiritual realization, and can it give us more insights about quantum entanglement? And what does such spiritual understanding inform us about the deeper properties of time and space? Does it help us understand spacetime wormholes
spiritually, and can this then feed into our understanding of quantum entanglement?
